Luzern, my new favorite.

yesterday, sunday, i went to Luzern Switzerland(about an hour away) to attend and take pictures at the annual carnival/parade that most towns in Switzerland have during this time of year. it is called Fasnachts. however, i guess i was given the wrong time because when i arrived it seemed as though it was over. i saw a few people walking around in costumes(wow interesting) and confetti on the ground from it, but nothing for real. pretty bummed that i missed it, but i LOVE Luzern and was happy to be there anyway. it is my new favorite place, i can't wait to come back often and explore. i just walked around and took pictures. yes, another dreary grey day in Switzerland...someday there will be nothing but blue skies in my photographs. even though i missed Fasnachts in Luzern, my town of Wadenswil has one next sunday, and something on monday too. (however Luzern is a much larger city so its a bigger parade). but get ready for pics next week of the one here in my town.

this is a really old wooden bridge, it has burnt down a few times, but this current one is still very old.

you can see a lot of the remains of Fasnachts~ the confetti, the banners, things in peoples windows, murals etc.

the stores had some cool looking mannequins. mannequins are pretty great models.

please notice in that bottom picture on the right next to the creepy dead man is a reflection of a woman. i didn't notice it till i got home and pulled up the picture. i think its a mannequin. it is a tad creepy.

also, i came upon this window display of creepy dead men(in celebration of Fasnachts) you can see from these the types of costumes and style of this celebration. every time i went in for a close up of one of these i seriously thought it was going to move. i would NOT have been okay with that.

then there was this window display of robin hood characters

and then this window display with marines, a jester(?) and a queen

i wanted to show you what the train schedule looks like at each train station. you just find the hour you want to leave, then find a time in that hour that matches the place you want to end up. i usually just plan out my travels online before hand. its super easy. i love it. but using the board is easy too.

here is an idea of what the costumes look like. this is a clip from last years Fasnachts. i don't even know how to describe the style of the costumes/event so you just have to see it to understand.

Wow that Jester is freaky. Jesters freak me out a little bit. It's true though their costumes make no sense. Like all the bunnies in the video? That's so bizzaro. I like it!
