the party never stops!

more fasnachts you say? yes. its true. this is mondays, the final celebration {i attended}. it was basically the same thing as sundays {Wadenswil} parade. same "floats", whatever they call them here, but this monday's parade was especially for the kids {it was a lot shorter too}. this time i went with anna, mariah and roberta {oh and tyler but he slept in the stroller the whole time} it was fun with them! the girls dressed up a bit then we headed down the street for the action.

after the parade was over, we had our own confetti throwing. here anna is throwing a handful at me which gets in my chili {in the following picture}
one of the "floats" was handing out chili{?} and i ran up and snatched a bowl. it was delicious. this would never be allowed in the states, to hand out open food like that.
then we came back home for some good ol' fashion chalk drawing and playing outside because it was a glorious day.

i have always loved confetti

more fasnachts.
this is the fasnachts parade/celebration in my town, Wadenswil. {i LOVE Switzerland. what a neat place i live in. everyday i feel very lucky to be here.} i was able to get there early enough to get a great spot right in the front. also, i was able to find a spot with great lighting. the sun just poked its way through where i was. i didn't post all the photos for i took 478 pictures at this thing. its a beautiful thing. here are some of my favorites. {if you want to see more you can request it or go to my facebook and take a peak.}

i had a great time. it is fun to experience these things by myself, but at the same time i wish my family/friends were standing by me so we could laugh, be bewildered and get confetti thrown on us together.

these guys were great. they were called the Bittells. {beatles} they were just there before the parade started, walking around and singing beatles songs. they were pretty awful and they were even looking at a banner with the words. hah. it was great and everyone loved it. including me. i sang along right with them.
whips. i am pretty sure they almost whipped everyone they passed.









so many people posed for me. right after this disco queen posed for me, she bopped(a friendly bop) her blown up microphone on the top of my head. it made me happy.

there was tons of confetti being thrown.






these two sheep threw confetti at me FOUR times. hah. it was great.

clearly i look like a creeper, but there i am topped with confetti. why yes, i hardly wear any make up these days. why yes, that is a new scarf.

fake me out

you may recall from THIS post on friday's walk i mentioned not finding a castle here in Wadenswil. well i went on the same walk again last week only i had more time this time and found the castle...it is an hours walk from my front door. basically it is a "fake me out" castle but pretty beautiful still the same. i think when the weather gets better i might hang out here. please notice that my point and shoot camera is in charge of half of my post's pictures looking pretty 'blah'(being the color and quality). maybe you haven't noticed i use two cameras.

this cool vineyard on the way, right before coming to the castle. i wish you could see it in real life, it's pretty grand. maybe the video will help?

this week by foot

sunday
i walked down to the train station because i thought i was meeting a friend, well turned out she thought i knew she wasn't coming. but i was glad to get out and walk around and take some pics of the buildings that lead to the train station.

this is a meat shop and i think people live above it.



down below is this little restaurant that is pretty much the only thing open past 6pm in my whole town. it is quite the hangout for local high schoolers on any given evening. i want to eat there sometime. they sell kebabs.


thursday
afternoon i went on my usual walk this direction, but decided to go longer and deeper. an hour and 45 min later i arrived back home.












friday
morning, very foggy yet again.
i live over on the other side of that snowy white hill. i came this way to walk along the waterfront and to find the mini castle there, didn't find it.


not too sure what this place is but it has convinced me that if i ever have a long driveway i will grow trees along the sides of the driveway leading up to the house.
